Naming our new rooms

With the expansion of our Child Care services, we needed to decide on names for our new rooms.

Wombats, Joeys and Possums were the classroom names in the old centre, and (when surveyed) families felt it was important to carry this through to the new centre. We needed to add a room name for our fourth group, and educators voted for Puggles - which are baby monotremes such as echidnas and platypus.

We then consulted with the Aboriginal community through Yarkuwa to find the Wamba Wamba words for these animals and incorporated this language and animal illustrations by Sivonne Binks into signage for the Centre.
